Role

Research Intern at the ADAPT Centre, Trinity College Dublin, supervised by Dr. Hitesh Tewari.

Focus

I studied how threshold cryptography could be used for central bank digital currencies on the XRP Ledger. The goal was to split key material and decryption authority across several parties, so no single holder could decrypt alone.

What I worked on

  • Threshold encryption for CBDC transactions, using secret sharing to split keys across parties.
  • Integrating the scheme with the XRPL so issuance and settlement stay verifiable on-chain.
  • Weighing the trade-offs between privacy, auditability, and performance in a central-bank setting.

Stack

Threshold / secret-sharing cryptographic primitives, the XRP Ledger (XRPL), and supporting tooling.
